Social Media Campaign with Utah State JCOM Department
Objective
During Spring 2026, I helped develop and execute a social media campaign for Utah State University’s Journalism and Communication (JCOM) Department to promote Fall 2026 course registration. Our strategy centered on a “Professor Spotlight” series that highlighted instructors, their expertise, and the real-world value of their courses — bridging the gap between course listings and student interest.

Example Post
Targeting primarily current students, we used Instagram as our main platform (with Facebook as secondary support) and built content around the message: “Your courses can become career choices.” I coordinated with faculty to gather bios, course details, and personalized insights, ensuring authentic and engaging content. The campaign included an intro post, seven spotlight features, and supporting stories.
KPI's
- 25% increase in engagement
- Increase in awareness about JCOM professors
- 10% increase in JCOM registration numbers
Results

Results significantly exceeded our engagement goals, with 7.8K views, 1.1K reach, and 407 interactions on Instagram alone. Performance insights showed that visually distinctive content and recognizable professors drove the most engagement, while Instagram outperformed Facebook overall.
